The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is our most popular course. It will teach you about the key grape varieties grown around the world and the different styles of wine produced. It will also introduce the Systematic Approach to Wine Tasting which will be followed when tasting each wine.
This course is an ideal introduction to the world of international wines and wine law and is suitable for beginners as well as people who have already studied South African wines.

The Course:
Each course comprises of a lesson dates and an exam date (see the "Course Dates" tab for details).
The lectures are normally run on two full days from 08h30 to 17h00. The exam lasts for one hour consists of 50 multiple choice questions and is usually held one to two weeks later (see the 'Exam' tab for details).
***Zoom Course***
We are offering the exact same course curriculum via Zoom, the online conferencing platform, whilst the country wide Covid-19 lockdown prohibits the running of classroom based courses. The exam must still be taken in person (subject to lockdown) but this will also be preceded by a classroom based tasting/revision day (see the "Course Dates" tab for details).

You have one hour to complete the exam which comprises 50 multi-choice questions and a pass mark of 55%.

As with every WSET exam around the world, the exam papers are sent to WSET in London, UK to be marked to ensure global continuity with the results.
Results are normally known up to 3 weeks later, however with the current working restrictions in the UK due to Covid-19, results can take up to 6 weeks at present. WSET inform us by email and as soon as we know we will inform you by email. The certificate and metal lapel pin for successful candidates will follow from London shortly afterwards.
If you are unsuccessful, you are able to retake the exam without having to retake the course if you do not wish to. The cost to resit the exam is currently R1,600. Please contact us for potential dates.
